Sri Mahadevar Athisaya Vinayakar Temple

An extremely rare temple of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, exists for many centuries in Keralapuram near Nagercoil district in Tamil Nadu. The name of the temple translates to ‘Miracle Ganesha Temple’. Here the Lord’s idol, believed to be 2300 years old, changes its colour to black and white once in every six months. Another miracle here is that, there is a well inside the temple complex and the colour of the water too changes every six months. When the idol is white in colour, the water changes to black and vice versa! During Utharayan (March-June), the idol is black in color, and in Dakshiyana (July-Feb) idol turns to white. Experience the uniqueness!
